Telegraph Media Group in six figure deal with Kia

TMG and Korean car manufacturer Kia have created a multimedia campaign that invites the paper's readers to scratch off a latex advert on the back cover of The Telegraph Magazine.
The campaign launched on Saturday with what TMG claims to be a media first on the back cover of a magazine – a scratchable advertisement with a layer of mud-like latex applied, which readers scratch away to reveal the new Kia car model.

Mini opens first UK 'store' at Westfield Stratford

BMW-owned car brand Mini has opened its first UK pop-up store at the Westfield Stratford shopping centre near the Olympic Park, as part of plans to activate its sponsorship of the 2012 games.
The store, which will remain open for 12 months, will promote its coupé and Countryman models, as well as a range of Mini-branded lifestyle merchandise. It also features what the manufacturer claims to be the UK’s first "3D car configurator".

Renault unifies UK marketing under 'Va va voom' line

Renault is to extend its 'Va va voom' strapline, previously used only for its Clio models, across marketing for all its cars in the UK, in an effort to kick-start its sales performance.
The line dates back to a 2001 ad campaign that starred footballer Thierry Henry driving a Clio. The work had replaced the marque’s long-term ‘Papa and Nicole’ ads, and its popularity was such that ‘Va va voom’ was added to the Oxford English Dictionary in 2004.

UK car registrations fall 4.4% in 2011

Car registrations fell 4.4% in 2011 to 1.94 million, an industry body says.
It is the lowest number of registrations in more than a decade.
The fall in demand for new cars, which continued in December with a 3.7% drop compared with a year earlier, contrasts with a strong rise in UK car production in the last six months.

Car production rises 8.5% in November

Car production rose by 8.5 per cent in November and was up 6.1 per cent over the first eleven months of 2011, according to the SMMT.
UK engine production was ahead 1.7 per cent in November and 5.3 per cent in the year-to-date.
